East Tennessee State University is a public institute at Johnson City, TN and was established in 1910. Founded in 1911 as the East Tennessee State Normal School, the institution was set up to train teachers. It achieved university status in 1963. There are nearly 200 undergraduate, graduate, and medical programs of study which are offered via the eight colleges and schools of the university. Currently around 12,000 students are enrolled at the university. It offers programs in various fields from Adult nursing, Communication and Foreign languages to Micro biology, Music and Social work.
