The Master of Arts (M.A.) in Counseling Psychology program is designed to provide students with a foundation in theories and methods of counseling psychology with hands-on, practical, supervised training in counseling psychology techniques. The program offers the best features of traditional (M.A.) training programs coupled with Adler School’s emphasis on the education and training in socially responsible practice.

Applicants must have a baccalaureate degree or the equivalent from an accredited institution with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale for all undergraduate and graduate course work. Applicants must have completed of the equivalent of twelve semester credit hours in undergraduate psychology with grades of no less than “C” or better in each course. These courses should include general or introductory psychology, abnormal psychology, theories of personality, and research methods. Applicants who have taken the paper-based TOEFL must receive a minimum score of 550. Those who have taken the computer-based TOEFL must have a minimum score of 213.

Application forms can be completed online or mailed to the Office of Admissions. The Application fee is $50 (non refundable) Transcripts should be sent directly to the Office of Admissions. Official transcripts from each undergraduate and graduate school attended along with three letters of recommendation, recommendation forms and Resume or curriculum vitae are needed. Proof of English proficiency and Proof of financial support are also required to be sent to the Admissions Office, Chicago Campus, 65 East Wacker Place, Suite 2100, Chicago, IL 60601-7298.
