CMU experience was so much of fun and hard work. I spent five years in the campus and really loved the atmosphere there. The learning experience was very unique in the sense that the curriculum was flexible and I ended up studying various topics during my courses.
I studied Bachelors here and did my MS from there. I did not have to apply for a visa.
The course structure is very flexible and courses can be chosen from other departments also. The professors and staff are very friendly. The whole department is always bubbling with vigour. Weekly we have to spend about 48 hours on four courses together. This makes our work load pretty intensive, yet we always have time to spend as a department and as friends. There is funding for MS students. The classrooms are equipped with the latest technology for easy teaching. The notes are accessible online for the courses.
CMU campus is pretty small but still there is no compromise on the facilities provided to students. Lots of places nearby to see, but having a car is very handy for sightseeing. The best part is ice skiing and water canoeing. Interesting thing is we celebrate Holi by playing with colors. There are many student associations that have many events round the year on campus. Students here never get bored.. we have some activity or the other always on campus.
I am placed in a company in CA. Lots of firms come for on campus recruitments. Alumni also help us with placements through networks.
